On Tuesday we had a webinar scheduled with Jamie Keddie, author of Images (Oxford University Press). Murphy’s Law was proven yet again, as Jamie’s internet connection cut about ten minutes into the webinar. Unfortunately, it took a while for him to realise and he has a very entertaining blog entry entitled An evening without me that relates the experience. Gavin Dudeney, co-author of the award-winning How to Teach English with Technology (Longman), happened to be one of the webinar attendees. Gavin was kind enough to let us unmute him and commented on the occasional problems of teaching with technology (like unreliable internet connections) as well as talking a little about teaching in Second Life. Gavin kindly answered some people’s questions and the situation became a bit of a dogme-style lesson (but with technology).
We and Jamie are extremely apologetic about the situation and we are working on rescheduling the webinar, so please stay tuned. Sincere thanks to Gavin for his contribution.
